Telemedicine

Telemedicine at Valley Foot and Ankle

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is an interactive appointment where you can discuss your medical concerns through video chat with your doctor. We will be using the Zoom Meetings app to conduct these consultations. The app can be used through your desktop or mobile devices. Once scheduled, you will be connected face-to-face with your doctor who will evaluate you. Like a regular appointment, you will likely be asked about your medical history so please make sure to have your current medications available.

When is Telemedicine appropriate?

  • If you have safety concerns regarding Covid-19 and do not feel comfortable physically going to a doctor’s office telemedicine is certainly an option you can consider.

  • If you have a medical question regarding an ongoing condition that your doctor is already aware of and is not a new problem- tis would likely be an ideal use of telemedicine.

  • If you have a question or concern that would likely not require an in-office procedure, this too would be a good use of telemedicine.

  • If you are patient who is considering traveling a long distance for a consultation for a procedure such as Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), telemedicine is a good option.

Can I book an appointment as a new patient via telemedicine?

  • Yes. But do keep in mind there may be limitations to the treatment options a doctor can render remotely. For example any actually bracing, splinting, X-rays, ultrasounds, injections or other procedures will obviously not be able to be done remotely.

Does Insurance Cover Telemedicine?

  • Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak the answer was “sometimes”. During the active pandemic the restrictions have been generally lifted and for the most part the answer is “yes”. Most insurances are treating telemedicine visits exactly as they would an in-office visit.

  • There might be individual exceptions to broad telemedicine coverage from certain providers that we may not be able to anticipate. It is possible that your insurance may not cover this type of visit. You might consider calling your insurance provider and ask if a specialist visit is covered under their telemedicine policy.

How do I schedule a telemedicine appointment?

  • BY PHONE: You are encouraged to book your appointment by phone as this gives you the best opportunity of confirming your appointment time. This also allows you to explain your condition which may help determine if a telemedicine appointment is appropriate. Please call the front desk at (425) 226-5656

  • ONLINE: You can request an appointment. This online request does not guarantee the exact time slot, though we will accommodate your request if possible. Please be sure to mention in the comments section that you are requesting a telemedicine appointment.
